T-Hub and Facebook intend to partner and have a deep collaboration in the area of AR/VR tech, which is most intriguing space today. These are relatively new set of technologies and involve not only dorky hardware, but also lot of software and intelligence and are the subject of fascination to the world’s most influential people in tech.

AR/VR today has started to gain traction in industries including entertainment, gaming, communication and industry etc. Augmented reality, which overlays virtual 3D graphics onto our view of the real world or virtual reality, which immerses us in 360-degree views of new worlds with little or no sensory input from the room where your body is actually in.

The context of this program is to uncover amazing startups that are playing ball in this wide arena and bring some cutting-edge technologies to scale using T-Hub’s innovation program and outreach and Facebook’s global reach and tech depth.

Challenge Areas

VR, along with its 2 variant technologies: AR & MR, is opening up lot of challenges and opportunities for the industry & hence the consumers are going forward. It is an interesting time where this tech or domain is and we are extremely excited to be playing part in enabling and accelerating innovation in this space. Below are some of the areas that we are looking for ideas and startups to be from.

VR Application in the space of:

  • Healthtech, Industrial Manufacturing, Education, Corporate Learning & Development and others
  • Hardware and Accessories
  • Positioning, Gesture, & Eye tracking
  • Mobile Hardware & Enablement
  • Video Processing – Tools, Framework & related technology
  • Developer tools
  • Camera & Capture Related Technology


  • Each team must have at least 1 full time employee. A ‘full time employee’ is defined as a person that maintains standard business hours working on the technology or venture (at a minimum, Monday through Friday, 9:00am-5:00pm).
  • The product or technology the team is offering for consideration provides a functionality or capability not currently available in any off the shelf product, or a functionality/capability that can be demonstrated to possess a significant advantage over current offerings in some aspect.
  • The product or technology the team is offering for consideration represents original ideas wholly owned with freedom to use or is licensed by the team.
  • Individuals or teams incubating innovative ideas in India.
  • The team has formed or is a part of a recognized, legal entity for the company structure.

What's in it for Startups?

  • Opportunity for selected startup to work and scale up under the aegis of Facebook. The top 5-6 startups selected through this program will work with Facebook & T-Hub teams and mentors, to collaborate and prioritize the solution. All interventions will happen at T-Hub Hyderabad.
  • The startups will be given an opportunity to develop a proof of concept (PoC) on the prioritized solution and to showcase their PoC to key executives of Facebook & T-Hub, during the ‘Demo Day’ at T-Hub Hyderabad.
  • If mutual interest established, further collaboration options between selected startups and Facebook would be discussed.
  • Qualified startups will be directly accepted to the FbStart program*
  • Access to T-Hub’s network of mentors, industry experts, investors, service providers, community/ecosystem.
  • T&S will be covered only for shortlisted outstation startups & for one member per startup to fly down to Hyderabad.
